DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to educate and train students in the functional and practical differences between high stress, dynamic combat shooting in contrast to static range training and finally sport competition shooting. HCT instructors will present concepts proven to develop and enhance mental focus, speed, precise movement and weapon presentation ability to ensure the delivery of accurate rounds on target while shooting under duress. Instructors will explain and demonstrate specific techniques and body mechanics required to perform rapid fire shooting, while maintaining accuracy and safety even when operating in extremely close quarters or confined spaces.

Drills and exercises involve two-man / four man bounding movement with verbal communication, use of cover and concealment, searching and assessing the environment, weak-hand shooting, hasty versus tactical reloading, and weapon malfunction scenarios. Attendees will practice shooting on the move while navigating various obstacles, challenging terrain, poor visibility, and shooting technique from standing, running, kneeling, prone positions, or while lying on the back. There are day and night time training evolutions.

 TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is open to the general public.


 DURATION

Two days for a total of twenty (20) actual training hours. Training begins promptly at 9 am each morning with some modules extending well into the evening hours.


CLASS CAPACITY

 

Maximum class seating capacity is twenty-four (24) attendees with an instructor to student ratio of 1-to-5.


LEARNING CONDITIONS

Training is conducted in several environments:

  •  10% indoor classroom – consisting of lecture, workbook study, video/PowerPoint and interactive dialogue.
  • 90% outdoor field exercises
  • Course attendees must be physically fit. Up to seven hours each day will be spent on your feet moving, running around obstacles, barricades, and shooting.

  PACKING LIST

Business casual clothing, polo shirts and Docker® type slacks, at least two or three pairs of blue jeans, range uniform (rugged 5.11 style pants and long sleeve shirt recommended), a raincoat, workout clothing appropriate for defensive tactics Aikido and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu style training, business clothing, slacks, jacket, tie and appropriate shoes. No camouflage military-style uniform or attire allowed. A laptop computer is not mandatory but will prove to be helpful in academic portions of the course and mission planning segments of the course. Video recording is strictly prohibited.


 REQUIRED GEAR

Required Gear: A pistol, thigh holster, three (3) magazines, 500 rounds of ammunition will be used during the training evolutions. *Ammo is available for purchase at the facility.

  • A pistol, durable thigh holster and at least three high capacity (15 or more rounds) magazines or five lower capacity magazines.
  • Magazine pouches must have the ability to hold at least 3 magazines for each weapon
  • system on your body at one time
  • Wrap around eye and ear protection
  • Knee pads
  • Water hydration system and a raincoat.
  • Quality drop-leg holster with retention ability (no cross-draw holsters)
  • Low-profile holster (inside the pants or paddle type)
  • Small hand-held flashlight
